Best dog beds in Australia by size and sleeping style

Most dog beds that go unused were not uncomfortable. They were the wrong shape for how that dog sleeps, or bought a size down because the size up looked enormous in a photograph.

Both of those are solvable before you buy, and neither requires trusting a comfort ranking that no brand publishes any data behind. Watch how your dog sleeps for two nights, measure it while it is stretched out, and the choice narrows to one or two beds.

Below are six beds from four Australian brands, sorted by sleeping posture, with prices and stock read from each manufacturer’s own listing on 12 September 2026.

How to read this list

This is a verified shortlist, not a complete market survey. Every product was read from a live manufacturer listing on the date shown. Petbarn, PETstock, Pet Circle, Kmart, Big W and Amazon Australia block automated access, so their beds could not be verified and are not listed.

Dimensions in centimetres are published inconsistently, and that is worth knowing before you shop. Across the verified listings, Kazoo publishes measurements on 10 of 27, Mog & Bone on 28 of 103, Pablo & Co on 1 of 4, and Snooza on none of 74. It varies inside a single brand and even between colourways of the same bed: the Mog & Bone cushion bed publishes a full size chart in one print and none in another. Where dimensions appear below, they are quoted from the listing. Where they do not, nothing has been substituted for them.

Nobody at Dovelyne has slept a dog on any of these. No brand publishes a fill density, a load rating, a durability test or a chew resistance rating, so nothing below is ranked on comfort or longevity. Where a bed is described as orthopaedic or supportive, that is the manufacturer’s own product wording repeated as wording, not a health claim and not an endorsement of one.

Measure the dog first

This takes a minute and it is the only step that reliably prevents a wasted bed.

Length. Measure from nose to the base of the tail while the dog is lying down and stretched out, not standing. Add roughly 15 to 20cm. That is your minimum bed length.

The posture. Watch on a warm night and a cool one. Dogs change posture with temperature, and a dog that curls in July sprawls flat in January. Buy for the posture your dog holds most of the year where you live.

For scale, two published size charts in this set. Kazoo lists its pillow bed at 76 by 53cm in medium, 91 by 61cm in large, 106 by 71cm in extra large and 120 by 85cm in giant. Mog & Bone lists its cushion bed at 60 by 40 by 10cm in small, 70 by 50 by 12cm in medium and 80 by 60 by 14cm in large. Compare those and the problem is obvious: a Kazoo medium is larger than a Mog & Bone large. Size names are not standardised between brands and are not interchangeable, which is why the measurement matters more than the label.

Sprawlers: flat beds

A dog that sleeps flat out on its side, or on its back with its legs in the air, needs surface area and nothing else. Raised sides are wasted on a sprawler and they reduce the usable flat area, which is why a bolster bed that looks big can be too small for the same dog.

Kazoo Storm Dog Pillow Bed, from $52.95

The cheapest verified bed here and the only one publishing a full size chart: medium 76 by 53cm through to giant 120 by 85cm, across four sizes to $144.95. The listing states the cover is stitched into the bed and is not removable, but that the whole bed can be washed.

Suits: sprawlers, big dogs, and anyone who wants the measurement published rather than guessed. The non-removable cover is a real trade and the listing says so rather than hiding it.

Mog & Bone Cushion Dog Bed, from $75.95

A flat cushion bed across four sizes to $249.95, and one of only two beds here with a published size chart: 60 by 40 by 10cm small, 70 by 50 by 12cm medium, 80 by 60 by 14cm large. The listing states a soft internal cushion, a removable machine washable cover, and that cotton canvas regulates body temperature more effectively than polyester. Note that the chart appears on some colourways and not others, so check the print you are buying.

Suits: sprawlers in a household that will actually wash the cover. If washability is your main criterion, washable dog beds that survive the machine goes through the published washing instructions in detail.

Curlers and leaners: bolster beds

A dog that curls tight, or that sleeps with its head or back pressed against something, is looking for a wall. Raised sides give it one. The trade is that the flat area in the middle is smaller than the outside dimensions suggest, so size up.

Mog & Bone Bolster Dog Bed, from $109.95

Three sizes to $229.95. The listing describes raised sides that act as a pet pillow, a soft internal fleece cushion for a dog to curl up on, a 100% cotton canvas cover and recycled polyester filling. It publishes no dimensions, which on a bolster bed is the one style where you most want them.

Suits: curlers, leaners, and anxious dogs that settle better against an edge.

Kazoo Loop Neck Support Dog Bed, from $87.96

Two sizes, medium at 76 by 56 by 17cm and large at 95 by 74 by 19cm, to $107.96. The height figure matters on this style because the raised edge is the point of the bed, and the bolster bed above does not publish one.

Suits: dogs that rest their head on something. The published height tells you whether the edge is actually tall enough to do that for your dog, which is a question no other listing in this set lets you answer.

Burrowers: cuddlers

A dog that pushes its nose under a blanket, digs at bedding before lying down, or sleeps fully wrapped is a burrower. It wants depth and enclosure rather than surface area.

Snooza Luxe Bubble Fur Cuddler, from $169.00

The most expensive verified option, across four sizes to $339.00. The listing does not publish dimensions, fill weight or wash instructions.

Suits: burrowers, small breeds and cold houses. Be aware of what you are buying on published evidence, which is a size name and a price. Note also that a deep plush bed is a winter bed in most of Australia, and a burrower in Queensland may use it for three months of the year.

Older dogs: foam beds

Pablo & Co Orthopedic Memory Foam Teddy Dog Bed, from $150.00

Three sizes to $250.00. The product name and the brand’s own description use the word orthopedic. No dimensions, foam density or supporting testing is published in the listing.

Suits: an older or stiffer dog, on the same basis any foam bed does, which is that foam distributes weight more evenly than loose fill. If your dog has a diagnosed joint condition, that is a conversation with your vet and not a purchasing decision. Nothing here is a treatment and no bed in this set publishes anything clinical.

What the price buys

From $52.95 to $169.00 the published difference is size, shape, fill type and cover material. Not one brand publishes a durability test, a fill density or a load rating, so price cannot be tracked against performance in this category at all.

What price does track is cover quality and whether the cover comes off. The $52.95 pillow bed has a stitched-in cover. The $75.95 cushion has a removable cotton canvas one. That is a real and published difference, and it is also the difference that decides whether the bed survives a muddy winter.

Before you buy

Check the return policy on size. Sizing is the most common reason a bed fails, and brands vary on whether an unused bed can go back.

Buy for the floor space you have. A 120cm bed is a piece of furniture. Measure where it goes before you order the giant.

Two cheap beds often beat one expensive one. Dogs move around the house through the day, and a second bed in the room you actually sit in gets more use than an upgrade in the laundry.
