Dovelyne works with brands. This page says exactly what that can and cannot mean, so a conversation can start from the same place.
What money can buy
Sponsored content. A piece we produce that a brand has paid for, labelled as sponsored at the top of the page where nobody can miss it. The brand can tell us what it wants readers to understand about its product, and can check the piece for factual accuracy about its own product.
Display advertising. Standard advertising placements. Advertisers get no access to editorial decisions and no advance sight of articles.
Brand collaborations. Longer arrangements such as a series, a resource or a co-produced guide, labelled the same way and on the same terms.
All of it is disclosed. All of it stays visibly separate from editorial content, and none of it is styled to be mistaken for it.
What money cannot buy
This list is not negotiable, and it applies to advertisers, sponsors, affiliate partners and everyone else equally.
- A positive review, a favourable verdict, or a particular rating
- Inclusion in a buying guide or a best-of list
- A position or rank within a guide
- Removal of accurate criticism or of a stated limitation
- Removal or alteration of a published article
- Exclusion of a competitor from a guide
- Advance approval over editorial content about a category or a competitor
- Content that is not labelled as commercial
Editorial products such as guides, comparisons and reviews are decided on the evidence. That is the whole reason they are worth advertising next to.
Factual accuracy checks
For sponsored content, a brand may review the piece to confirm we have described its own product correctly. Specifications, pricing and claims about the product itself are all fair to correct.
That check does not extend to our opinion, our framing, our mention of limitations, or anything we say about anyone else’s product.
What we will not accept
We do not accept advertising or sponsorship that is misleading, that targets children directly, that promotes products we consider unsafe for the households we write for, or that relies on false urgency, invented original prices or fabricated scarcity.
We decline work where the only way to deliver it would be to mislead a reader. We also decline where the brand’s expectations and this page cannot be reconciled, which is the main reason this page exists.
